CAPS Vancouver 2011 AGM

Dear CAPS Vancouver member, First, on behalf of the CAPS Vancouver Board, I wish you and your families a Very Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Joyous Kwanza, and any other festive occasions or actions you enjoy at this time of year.2011 has been a fantastic year for CAPS Vancouver with great programming, a talented and dedicated board, and many personal success stories among our membership. 2012 will begin with one of those success stories. David Gouthro, a longtime CAPS Vancouver member, has assumed the highest role in the Canadian Association of Professional Speakers, that of President. We couldn’t be prouder of David and we are thrilled that he will be our speaker at the January 14th meeting on Granville Island. Check out the event details.

In addition to David’s presentation, we will be holding our AGM for 2011 (yes I know we are a little late but there were some compelling reasons for that). At the AGM members will be provided with a financial report, will be asked to ratify the 2012 Board of Directors, elected by acclamation on November 19th 2011, and to ratify a new Constitution and Bylaws for CAPS Vancouver. Members of CAPS who are unable to personally attend the AGM can vote using the attached proxy form. Download proxy form.

*Notice of Motion

Motion: Moved Grender, seconded Lynn, that a new Constitution and Bylaws for CAPS Vancouver be adopted. Download it here*

The proposed constitution and bylaws is consistent with CAPS National and with other chapter constitutions and bylaws, and will replace the constitution and bylaws adopted by CAPS Vancouver in 2005. Among other things the proposed constitution and bylaws proposes a name change to CAPS Vancouver and B.C., recognizing that there are many CAPS members from other parts of our beautiful province.
